Margie Mason

Obituary of Margie Joann Mason

Margie Joann Fry was born on July 6, 1939 in Toledo, Ohio.   She was one of four children born from the union of Nelson and Mable (Roloff) Fry.

First and foremost, Margie loved her family.   She was a homemaker, but rest assured she had no problem being waited on by them.   Margie was affectionately known by several nicknames, “Trigger Drawers", "Slugger", "Turtle Head" or "Cricket", and happily answered to any one of them.

Margie loved being near the water and for the past nineteen years had made her home in Luna Pier.   Here she created many wonderful relationships.   These great friends introduced Margie to the Luna Pier Baptist Church where she received her spiritual nourishment.   She appreciated nature and all of its creatures.   Margie enjoyed fishing near the High Level Bridge.

She challenged her mind by working through crossword puzzles and word searches.   She often could be found playing along with “The Price Is Right” or catching her favorite soap “All My Children”.   However, her favorite pastime of all was that of cheering on her baseball team the Detroit Tigers.   Once, while watching a game, she was moving a large television and dropped it, breaking her toe.   While in the emergency department, Margie, strongly encouraged the hospital staff to put the game on so she could avoid watching replay later that night.

Margie enjoyed eating out.   Bob Evans’ was by far her favorite destination restaurant, and biscuits and gravy was her preferred dish.   She delighted in them so much that she was gifted a shirt that read, “I love you more than biscuits and gravy”.   When, Margie, wanted to shake things up from time to time she would visit McDonald’s to enjoy an Egg McMuffin breakfast sandwich.   But sometimes a bag of Cheetos was the only thing that could satisfy her hankering.

Margie Joann Mason, age 80, of Luna Pier passed away at Ebeid Hospice Residence on Saturday, June 13, 2020, surrounded by her loving family.   Her passing was preceded by her parents and three siblings:  Kenneth Fry, Judith Zam, and Jack Fry.

To cherish her memory, Margie leaves her beloved children:  Kim Robb, Tamra (Kenneth) Weills, Nelson (Ulrike) Mason, and Joy Mason; thirteen grandchildren:  Dawn (Bill), Melanie, Terry (Hilary), Jeremy, Jacqueline, Jacob, Nelson Jr., Shawn, Katrina, Michael, James, Jessica, and Edwin; seven great grandchildren:  Gracie, Kennedy, Kayden, Zachary, Jordan, Nicholas, and Ethan; and her number one companion, Tiger Cat:  Pumpkin.
