Obituary of Sandra Elizabeth Turner
Sandra Elizabeth Haslett was born in London, Ontario, Canada on July 17, 1946. She was the daughter of the late Robert and the late Beth (Macfie) Haslett. She would be raised by her stepfather the late: William Wood. Following her graduation from high school, Sandra, would attend the University of Windsor obtaining her certificate in Criminology and Criminal Justice. Sandra would move to Southern Ohio in the late 1990’s, until her health began to fail and in January 2020, she moved to Toledo, Ohio so she could be cared for by her daughter, Rebecca.
Sandra would be blessed with the birth of four children. Naturally a very caring and loving person, she provided for their needs first. She was not afraid of hard work, and in fact for many years, she used her gift as a talented seamstress to make clothing for her family, including a fur coat for her second husband.
Sporting a green thumb, Sandra made sure to plant her garden each year. Her vegetables were always delicious, and she made sure to plant tomatoes for her family to enjoy. She also took great pleasure in her blooming plants, cultivating Tiger and White Lilies were among her favorite flowers to plant.
Early in her life, Sandra would discover a love of grooming and caring for horses from her stepfather. She would gain employment at Standard Bred Horse Farm in Ohio and stay employed there for over 40 years. Here she painstakingly maintained the horses as if they were her own. Sandra would find so much fulfillment and joy in performing her duties.
Eight years ago, a dog wandered into Sandra’s yard. It scratched at her door seeking food and shelter. Being the caregiver that she was, Sandra, welcomed “Millie” into her home. Although Sandra patiently waited for someone to claim the canine, Millie’s owner never came, and the two would live happily ever after.
Sandra had strong convictions in astrology and numerology. When examining Sandra’s personality traits, it was quite evident that she modeled her Zodiac sign of Cancer. Sandra would never miss an opportunity to listen to her all-time favorite song, Amazing Grace.
Sandra Elizabeth Turner, age 73, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away at 12:41pm on Friday, June 12, 2020 under ProMedica Hospice care at The Laurels of Toledo. In addition to her parents and stepfather her passing was preceded by all her siblings.
To cherish her memory, Sandra leaves two daughters: Rebecca McCloskey and Elizabeth Bolton; two sons: Steve Coddington and Carl Coddington; and four grandchildren: Sydney, Blake, Chase, and Hunter; and her four-legged best friend: Millie.
