My aunt June was my longest relationship that I have ever had with anyone. My parents passed young, June and I were tight from childhood. She was more like a big sister than an aunt as a child. When I went to visit my grandparents June and Wanda always fought over who I'd play with. With Wanda ,who was June's younger sis, I played paper dolls and we drew pictures and colored . With June I played Jacks and cards. When she was a teenager she would babysit for my brother and I. Later when she got married and had her 2 sons I was a teenager who baby sat for her kids. When I got married she was in Germany and missed my wedding. When I got married the second time it was a small intimate affair. She surprised me by taping the whole thing and gave me the tape. She always did thoughtful things like that . When I had my baby she was one of the few people that I felt safe leaving him with. As our kids grew and got married we attended each others bridal showers, weddings, and baby showers. June and I even attended her granddaughter's birth. We went on vacation to Houghton Lake together. I went to Florida to spent part of her vacation with her and uncle Butch. I have photos and videos of good times together . She wrote a poem for me about my son's birth. We loved going to the lake , going to bingo and casinos. We loved the same foods and the same restaurants. She was my friend but when we lost my mom, her sister, she became a surrogate mom figure to me. So losing her after having a 73 year relationship with her is not going to be easy. I am less sad when I think of how she is with almost her entire family .I cannot wait until we can celebrate her life. My deepest condolences to her kids and grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was such a good mom , grandma, and aunt. Love and miss her.
