Obituary of Kenneth Rodney Summers
Kenneth R. Summers, age 51, of Ottawa Lake, passed away at home on February 29th, 2020. He was born in Garden City, Michigan on November 15th, 1968 to Barbara Summers and the late Kenneth Summers, Sr. Ken was a beloved significant other to Tamara Evanoff and a loving father to Rodney (Colin), Josephine (Darrell), Abigail (Will), Jessica (Kyle) Capron, and Kyle (Ally) Evanoff. A proud grandfather to Makylee, Avery, and Cody. Kenneth is also survived by his sisters Barbara Ondia Bechtel, Julie Anne Summers; half-siblings Kathy (Mark Sr.) Corey, Debbie (Kevin) Mullins, Kenneth Summers Jr., Raymond (Janet) Summers; loved by Alice Summers; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Ken was a modern day cowboy with an unbridled love for horses, ever since he received his first pony, “Bill the Buckskin”, at the age of three. He was a strong person with a big heart and a hard head. He did everything he could to provide for those he loved. The void he leaves behind is filled with the love he shared and cultivated with those who knew him.
Friends may gather from 2:00pm until 6:00pm on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at Merkle Funeral Service, North Monroe; 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. A Celebration of His Life will follow at 6:00pm also at Merkle’s with Reverend Joseph Baird pastor of LaSalle Missionary Baptist Church officiating. Private inurnment will take place at Michigan Memorial Park in Huron Township.
