Obituary of Nancy Tuttle

Please share a memory of Nancy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Nancy Elizabeth Abston was born in Alabama on July 20, 1927. She was the daughter of the late Henry Newton Abston and the late Daisy Bell (Lee) Abston. Nancy married Sherman W. Tuttle on March 4, 1944 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The young family would move to Michigan in 1950 so that Sherman could find work. Nancy was a Godly woman who always put her faith first. She was a longtime member of the Monroe Apostolic Church, but for the past several years had been receiving her spiritual nourishment through the Solid Rock Church of Monroe. As a homemaker, Nancy was always attentive to the needs and the consummate supporter of her husband and children. She was a great cook and a dynamite baker. She enjoyed entertaining and especially loved getting together for birthdays and holidays with her family. Nancy was a nurturer, knowing how to grow a family and she also was gifted with a green thumb for gardening. In her free time, Nancy, liked to play bingo, watch the Detroit Tigers, loved to find treasures while looking for garage sale bargains, and appreciated keeping up on current events through her daily newspaper. Nancy Tuttle age 86 of Monroe passed peacefully from this life to her heavenly reward on Friday, January 24, 2014. Her loving family was at her side. In addition to her parents her passing was preceded by her beloved husband: Sherman on July 17, 2003, daughter: Joyce Ward, twin daughters: Willie Mae Tuttle and Edith Faye Tuttle; a brother: Jasper Abston; three sisters: Willo Mae, Lucille, and Mary; one grandchild; and two great grandchildren. To cherish her memory she leaves three children: Judy (Roger) Pederson of Tecumseh, James "Woody" (Jean) Tuttle of Tecumseh, and Jeff (Michelle) Tuttle of Monroe; one brother: David Abston of Noble, Louisiana; one sister: Ruth Turner of Monroe; fourteen grandchildren; thirty-four great grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren. Friends may gather from 2:00pm until 8:00pm, Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. She will lie in state from 10:00am until a Celebration of Her Life at 11:00am, Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at Solid Rock Church of Monroe, 77 Wadsworth Street. Reverend Scott Sistrunk will officiate and procession will follow to Roselawn Memorial Park in LaSalle for burial.
