Obituary of Mary Etta Vineyard

Mary Etta Shackelford was born on Wednesday November 8, 1950 in Detroit, Michigan. She was one of three children born from the union of Mitchell and Ann (Bryson) Shackelford. Mary met the love of her life Michael Vineyard, together they were married on December 18, 1976 in Brownstown Township. From this union, they were blessed with a beautiful daughter; Dawn. Shortly after being married, Mary decided to go back to school and obtained her cosmetology license from a beauty school in New Orleans. She opened Mary’s Salon in Jackson, Michigan where she kept a steady business for over twenty years, taking retirement in 2000. Mary had a huge heart, she loved all of God’s creations. She had a special spot in her heart for animals, helping the elderly and her beloved grandchildren. Mary respected nature, she enjoyed gardening, planting flowers and simply “playing in the dirt”. She enjoyed singing along to various types of music and loved dancing. Mary always presented herself in a well manner and earned the respect she was given. Her faith was strong, she was a spiritual woman. She adored her family and never forgot a birthday. Mary Etta Vineyard, 66 years, of Monroe, passed away on Saturday April 22, 2017. Her passing was preceded by her parents, stepmother: Virginia Axline, and her brother in law: Danny Endicott. To cherish her memory, Mary leaves her loving husband of over forty years: Michael Vineyard of Monroe; her daughter: Dawn Clark and significant other Jeffrey Reaume of Newport; grandchildren: Sierra (Joel) Grubb of Maybee and Cody Clark of Monroe; her twin great grandbabies: Camden and Wesley Grubb; her sister: Arvetta Endicott of Chapel Hill, Florida; her brother: James Shackelford of Miami, Florida; her aunt: Henrietta (Ronald) Coleman of Royal Oak; her cousin: Donna (Jerry) Starling of Warren; and numerous niece, nephews and many cherished friends. A private ceremony was held on Sunday, April 23, 2017 with immediate family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Merkle Funeral Service, North Monroe; 2442 North Monroe Street, Monroe, Michigan (734)384-5185. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to Mary’s favorite charity: Monroe County Humane Society.
