Obituary of Susan Naki

Please share a memory of Susan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Susan Lynne Naki was born on May 13, 1959 in Chicago, Illinois from the union of Keith and the late Nadine(Keller) Porter. Susan was the second oldest of five wonderful children. She spent her golden childhood in her beloved hometown of Claredon Hills, IL and graduated from Hinsdale high school in 1977. She further attended Iowa State University with a focus in forestry. She married the late Zolton Elek Naki, Jr. on May 1, 1982 at a beautiful outside wedding in Spring, Texas. From this union came the birth of five beautiful girls. Sue was a dedicated wife and mother, always looking out for the needs of her family. She taught her family to put each other first, bounded by a devoted love. She found no greater joy than being a grandmother to her five grandbabies. Sue's element was the outdoors: going primitive camping in the Upper Peninsula every summer, having a highlight of planting her vegetable gardens yearly, and faithfully feeding her wild birds that followed her wherever she went. She treasured the canine companionship of her "best friend" BJ, a rescue dog. When she was able, Sue was very athletic, always tagging along with her two brothers to play sports. Sue's heart was made of gold: helping anyone in need, however she could. Her love of science fiction was an additive to her brilliant imagination. Sue faced numerous hardships and tragedies throughout her life, but left a legacy of resilience and strength. Sue was a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church in Monroe, Michigan and loved it dearly. Susan Lynne Naki, age 56, of Monroe, passed away at 9:27 am on Sunday, May 8, 2016 at home. Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Zolton E. Naki Jr (2002); her mother, Nadine V. (Keller) Porter (2005); her brother, Thomas K. Porter (2016); and her father-in-law, Zolton E. Naki Sr (2012). To cherish her memory, she leaves her daughters: Shannon (Jacob) Costello, Carly (Kyler) Blevins, Sarah Naki, Amy Naki, and Beth Naki; father: Keith C. Porter; aunt: Sandra Reed; brother: David (Christine) Porter; sisters: Sandra (Kenny) Sillivan and Jennifer (Nathan) Jeffery; sister-in-laws: Ann Porter and Elizabeth (Jerome) Cyr; brother-in-law: Greg (Lisa) Naki; mother-in-law: Judith A. Naki; 7 grandchildren whom she loved more than life itself: Kolton and Kase Blevins, Jacob and Landon Costello, Bailey Satkowski, and two baby boys on the way; her wonderful companion: Scott Cornoyer; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
