Obituary of Shelby Barrow

Shelby Jean (Taylor) Barrow, age 78 passed Sunday, March 27, 2016 at Fountain View of Monroe. She was born November 4, 1937 in Chocowinity, North Carolina to the late Willie Taylor and the late Lola (Lewis) Taylor.
Shelby lived in West Fairfield, Pennsylvania from 1969 until 1978 and then moved to Carleton, Michigan. She was employed as an Upholstery Specialist until retiring in 2014. Shelby was a member of the Hall Branch Christian Church in Chocowinity, and a member of the Fort Ligonier, Pennsylvania Chapter Unit 349 of the Eastern Star. Shelby enjoyed many years living on her farm, designing prized floral gardens, creating skilled wood workings, reading, and spending time with her family, friends and beloved cats.
Shelby was preceded in death by parents; her only brother: Edmond Taylor; and two sisters: Lynn Chestnut and Lois Williams. She will always be remembered for being a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, auntie and friend. She is survived by her sister: Jessie Britton, four children: Sharon (Boyd) Shearer, Lee (JoAnn) Farrell, Gary (Betsy) Barrow, and Tony Barrow; seven grandchildren: Craig (Kelly) Farrell, Timothy (Christi) Barrow, Brett Farrell, Shauna Barrow, Kyle (Bethany) Shearer, Garrett Shearer and Zoey Barrow; eight great grandchildren: Jonathan Barrow, Matthew Alfree, Hunter Strannahan, Tyler Barrow, Briauna Skelly, Kennedy and Cam Farrell and Harrison Shearer. She was very comforted to have had a celebration of life during her final days, knowing she was loved by her immediate family and numerous nieces, nephew, and special friends: Jim, Myrna, Pat, and Janis.
Friends may gather from 6:00pm until 7:00pm on Friday, April 1, 2016 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street, Monroe, Michigan 48162 (734) 384-5185. Funeral Services will follow at 7:00pm on Friday also at Merkle's with Reverend Roy Southerland pastor of Monroe Missionary Baptist Church officiating. Burial services will take place at 11:00am on Monday, April 4, 2016 in West Fairfield Cemetery; New Florence, Pennsylvania.
