Obituary of Glen Norton
Glen Willard Norton was born on June 13, 1941, in Monroe, Michigan. He was the youngest of six children born from the union of Phil and Emma (Dossett) Norton. He graduated from Monroe High school, with the class of 1959. In 1960, Glen enlisted in the United States Army, serving his country with honor until 1962. Upon returning to civilian life, Glen worked ten years for Dana Corp before becoming a construction carpenter. Glen was proud to say his biggest jobs were for Detroit Edison, Fermi II, the Monroe Mall, and Horizon Outlet mall. He also attended Monroe County Community College for several semesters.
When Glen needed to unwind, he could often be found on the waters of Lake Erie, piloting his beloved boat, "Asylum." His love for boating led him to membership with the Detroit Beach Boat Club, where he rose through the ranks to become Commodore in 1994.
After retiring, Glen and the love of his life, Sallie, embarked on a new chapter of becoming snowbirds, spending their winters in North Fort Myers, Florida. Sadly, this ended when Sallie passed in 2012.
Throughout his life, Glen yearned for adventure and excitement. He enjoyed the thrill of gambling at the casino, especially at blackjack tables, seeing it as a way to embrace life's uncertainties and test his luck.
