Obituary of Teresa Snavely
Teresa Jane Merritt was born on August 19, 1948, in Knoxville, Tennessee. She was one of five children, born from the union of Verlin and Hazel (Osborne) Merritt. She graduated from Jefferson High School. Teresa met the love of her life: Vaughn Snavely, and the duo tied the knot in Monroe on May 10, 1967. They were blessed with five children.
With a brush in hand, Teresa transformed blank canvases into vivid worlds of clowns, landscapes, and nature scenes, each painting a window into her joyful spirit and imaginative mind. She had an extraordinary ability to find joy in the simplest of pleasures. Her love for casinos was legendary among her friends and family; she had an uncanny knack for stretching a single twenty-dollar bill into hours of entertainment.
A bargain hunter at heart, Teresa had an eye for deals, especially at yard sales. She relished the thrill of discovering hidden treasures in other people's castaways. Generosity was another cornerstone of Teresa's character. She seemed willing to give anything to anyone in need, embodying a spirit of generosity that resonated within her community. Her resourcefulness knew no bounds; if she knew someone wanted or needed something she didn’t have; she either found it or made it.
Family gatherings were the highlight of Teresa's life. From holiday celebrations to quiet evenings on her front porch, surrounded by loved ones, these moments filled her heart with happiness. Her grandchildren were the light of her life. She poured her love into them, sharing her warmth, wisdom, and laughter.
Teresa had an adventurous spirit, which found its perfect outlet in her love for Carnival Cruises. Accompanied by Bryan and Terrie, she explored the world, savoring new experiences and creating cherished memories with each voyage. Teresa was known for her humor and ability to find lightness even in difficult situations. Her laughter was a balm to those around her, and her wit and charm often left people smiling long after she had left the room.
