Obituary of Heidi Swinkey

Heidi Renee Meggison was born in Monroe, Michigan on December 26, 1973. She attended Monroe High School.  In the summer of 1992, Heidi married the love of her life, David Swinkey, in a charming backyard wedding surrounded by their closest family and friends. Despite the chilly 40° temperature on June 20th, the day was filled with joy and laughter, marking the beginning of their beautiful journey together. The couple were blessed with the birth of four children and Heidi cared for the needs of her husband and children as a homemaker.

Heidi had a knack for crafting, she began crocheting security blankets for babies, but that talent blossomed into her creating delightful animals that became cherished gifts for loved ones.

Heidi's love for her family was boundless. She enjoyed spending time with those she cherished, particularly looking forward to cookouts and family dinners. A seasoned baker, Heidi's kitchen was often filled with the wonderful aromas of her baked goods. Her banana bread and zucchini bread were legendary, enjoyed by all who had the pleasure of tasting them. Christmas was a special time for her, highlighted by her tradition of baking cookies with family.

Heidi was deeply involved in her children’s lives, always wanting to know where they were, what they were doing, and ensuring their safety. Her protective nature and deep love for her children were constants in their lives, providing them with a strong sense of security and support.

One of Heidi's favorite activities was organizing family photo sessions, where she would ensure everyone dressed up perfectly. Even though the group would successfully capture only one “good” photo of the hundreds taken, these photos were a testament to her belief in the importance of family and creating memories.

Heidi was known for her fierce love and loyalty. She loved hard, and those who were in her inner circle knew her feelings. However, if someone crossed her or her loved ones, her disapproval was made very clear.

Heidi Renee Swinkey, age 50, of Monroe, passed away at her home unexpectedly on Wednesday; July 31, 2024.  Her passing was preceded by a brother: Brian Meggison and her father: James Meggison.  She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband: David; four children: Christopher (Kayla) Swinkey, Shelby (Brandon) Rainey, Kyle Swinkey, and Cody (Devon Fell) Swinkey; and many nieces and nephews.

No public services have been planned.  Her care has been entrusted to Merkle Funeral Service, North Monroe; 2442 North Monroe Street, Monroe, Michigan 48162 (734) 384-5185. Cremation has taken place through Covenant Cremation of Erie, Michigan, a division of Merkle Enterprises, Inc.
