Obituary of Larry James Hunter

Larry James Hunter was born on January 12, 1956, and raised in Troy, Missouri. He was one of four children born to the union of James Theodore and Darlene (Collins) Hunter. Larry attended Winfield Missouri High School, graduating with the class of 1974.  To provide for his family Larry worked as an assembler and forklift operator for General Motors before retiring in 2021. He was a proud member of the UAW Local in Toledo, Ohio.

On September 3, 1977, in Pike County, Missouri Larry married the love of his life the former Carol Kuntz and together the couple were blessed with two sons: Tony and Brett. Larry was an avid sports fan rooting on several NASCAR drivers, but his favorite teams were the St. Louis Cardinals professional baseball team and the Kansas City Chiefs professional football team.  He loved spending time outdoors whether he was hunting deer or fishing for bass but found solace in mowing the lawn. He was an everyday type of guy who most enjoyed spending time with his wife, his two sons, and his granddaughter.

Larry James Hunter, age 68 of Petersburg, Michigan passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday; July 21, 2024. His passing was preceded by his parents: James and Darlene Hunter and his brother: Ricky Hunter.

To cherish his memory, he leaves his loving wife of forty-six years: Carol Hunter of Petersburg; two sons: Tony Hunter of Toledo, Ohio and Brett Hunter of Petersburg; a sister: Sherry Hunter of Troy, Missouri; Rodney Hunter (Tammy) of Troy, Missouri; a granddaughter: Aurora Hunter of Bucyrus, Ohio; and one nephew: Jason Hunter of Troy, Missouri.

No services are planned locally. A Memorial service in Troy, Missouri will be held at a later date. His care has been entrusted to Merkle Funeral Service, Dundee; 297 Tecumseh Street, Dundee, Michigan 48131(734) 529-3156. Cremation has taken place through Covenant Cremation of Erie, Michigan, a division of Merkle Enterprises, Inc.
