Obituary of Brenda Sue Koester

Brenda Sue Knepley was born on August 28, 1962, in Toledo, Ohio. She was the only child born to the union of David Knepley and Joyce (Beals) Knepley.  Brenda attended and graduated from Erie Mason High School in Erie, Michigan.

 

To provide for her family, Brenda worked as a secretary at Monroe Asphalt for more than twenty years before her retirement in 2024.  She loved being outdoors whether she was working in the garden watering and pruning flowers, caring for the vegetables, or feeding the birds that visited her yard, or sitting and enjoying the view from the deck.  Brenda enjoyed cooking and taking care of her eight feline companions.  Her most cherished pastime was spoiling the grandchildren and spending time with them.  She also enjoyed reading stories to the grandchildren and shopping for items she knew they enjoyed. 

 

Brenda Sue Koester, age 61 of Erie, Michigan passed away on Sunday; June 2, 2024, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio.  At her passing, she selflessly provided the gift of life to others through organ and tissue donation.  Her passing was preceded by her parents: David and Joyce Knepley.

 

To cherish her memory Brenda leaves a daughter: Jenette (Jacob) Knepley of West Mansfield, Ohio; two granddaughters: Harpe Seal and Brynn Knepley; her long-time companion of more than twenty years: Leonard “Doc” and his children and grandchildren that she loved as her own; and a large extended family.

 

A Celebration of Life will be held in her honor - date to be determined. Brenda’s care has been entrusted to Merkle Funeral Service, Erie; 9156 Summit Street, Erie, Michigan 48133 (734) 317-7199.  Cremation has taken place through on-site crematory, Covenant Cremation of Erie, Michigan a division of Merkle Enterprises, Inc.
