Obituary of Jacqueline Lockridge
Jacqueline Butler was born in Detroit, Michigan on May 5, 1957. She was one of six children born to James and Ann (Lee) Butler. Jackie spent the bulk of her life in her hometown of Detroit. She later made her home in Monroe, Michigan. Jackie absolutely loved the small-town atmosphere of Monroe, spending many hours leisurely shopping around the Monroe Walmart and people watching.
Jacqueline wed the love of her life, Craig Lockridge, in Roseville, Michigan. Over the years of their courtship, Jackie had become very close to Craig’s beloved grandmother. She wisely recognized that Jackie was a special woman and warned Craig not to let her go as she was brought into his life to save him. The couple were genuine soul mates, endlessly devoted to one another. Craig worshipped his wife as a Goddess, and she returned his admiration in kind. A loving mother, Jackie was proud of her son, John, and looked forward to his frequent phone calls. She also cherished her friendships. When she and her girlfriends got together, they could not stop laughing and joking, sometimes at Craig’s expense!
Always humble and kind, Jackie was a rare breed. She was very strait-laced, never indulging in the vices that many people do. Despite her challenges in life, she was always happy and smiling. A devout Christian, Jackie was always sure to say her prayers. She often read the Bible and enjoyed non-fiction books and word search puzzles while sipping her favorite drink, Pepsi. Consistent with the caring wife she was, Jackie took an interest in her husband’s hobby, slot car racing, and bought him many cars. The bulk of Craig’s car collection came from Jackie’s generosity.
Jackie was a wonderful cook. When she and Craig first met, she invited him over for a meal and won his heart. Jackie was also a talented baker and made many cakes for her friends and family. A confident woman, she recognized her own beauty inside and out. Jackie always kept the curtains open to let the sunshine in and when it hit her face she simply glowed.
