Having worked with John at AAA, I was deeply saddened to hear of his passing. John was truly a good guy who forever kept us intrigued with his stories, his conversations, his intelligence and his presence. A gentle giant who made us feel safe, kept us in stitches with his experiences, and one who could never be replaced. John truly left his footprints on this earth and he will be missed immensely. I wish his family peace, strength, and comfort as they grieve.

John was the consummate professional as a Law Enforcement Officer. His integrity was unquestionable in every position he held during his career! He was my dive partner on the dive team and a great friend! May his soul rest in peace. May his wife Cyndi, family and friends also know that he made the world a better place to live in.

“You went away so suddenly, we did not say goodbye. But brothers can never be parted. Precious memories never die”
My dearest older brother John, while we were somewhat distant, the memories I have with you at grandmas house ( and so many others), are fond. I’ll never forget how much you protected me and I will forever miss your hugs. While I wish we were closer I’m so glad for the times we had together. I love you to the moon and back. May you rest in peace and spread your wings now.
Love always, your baby sis,
Shannon

I enjoyed working with John so much over the past 8 years. John was always willing to work anything we threw at him and never complained. He would simply say “put it on the sheet”. The stories he told about his workday escapades were unmatched. He had such a way with words and his creative descriptions of his canvasses in his reports was always entertaining.
John will be greatly missed as a co-worker but more importantly as a friend. The world is a better place having had John in it.

I met John in his 2nd career and we instantly became friends, as I think most did with John. He loved the outdoors and we bonded over that while I helped him become "Farmer John" with his new Ford 8n tractor. Taking John to his first agriculture consignment auction last spring was... entertaining. A city boy completely out of his element with a bunch of rednecks and farmers in the middle of a field of equipment in West Michigan. He was so overwhelmed as he walked though aisles of equipment he'd never seen or heard of, but he loved every minute of it. We found him the brush hog he wanted to start clearing his new hunting land and he stood by that sucker for hours to make sure he didn't miss it when the auctioneer got there. We had the opportunity to meet up at his new hunting property over the summer and he introduced me to Cindy. We shared some stories around the campfire while the Northern Lights danced overhead. It was truly an awesome experience in a special place with a great guy and his bride. I'll take the 4 years I got, but I wish we'd have known each other longer. Keep looking for that big one Pal, I'm gonna miss the hell out of you.

To send my deepest sympathy
Just doesn't seem like enough.
I know how our grief is a burden to us,
How this time must be so rough.
But try to believe in our heart of hearts,
That our pain won't last forever,
That sadness will lighten a little each day,
and we'll eventually feel much better.
When that day comes, our memories,
Will focus on the good, not the bad.
Instead of feeling burdened by tears,
We'll cherish the happy times we had.
I lost part of my Heart when I heard of my first born son's passing.
A Divorce is a terrible time in a families life.
Even though John and I did not have that much communication, he will be sadly missed.
Life is to short and only God knows when it is our time to leave this earth.
John and I will meet again in the future.
