Obituary of Steven William Heinzerling

Please share a memory of Steven to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Steven William Heinzerling was born on September 1, 1981, in Monroe, Michigan. He was the younger of two sons born to William and Mary Beth (Bleyaert) Heinzerling. Steve graduated from Jefferson High School with the Class of 2000 and continued his education at Monroe County Community College.

Steven was employed as a meat cutter at Kroger for many years before taking a position at Neapco Driveline in production. After ten years of service, Steve medically retired in February 2023. He was a member and past Board member of Monroe Moose Lodge 884.

A talented golfer, Steve played for Jefferson High School’s team for all four years. His love of golf, which began in childhood, continued throughout his life. Steve was proud to have gotten a “hole-in-one” at his favorite course, Thorne Brothers at Lilac Golf Course in Carleton, Michigan. He shared this passion with his daughter, Keaton, and they cherished the time spent together hitting the links.

Steve was also an avid football and hockey fan, especially of the Detroit Lions and University of Michigan football teams. He frequently tuned his radio into the games and sports analysis programing. Steve also watched sports on television, sometimes while he listened to the radio, which in turn drove his family crazy! He also enjoyed listening to a wide variety of music. His favorite tunes were from the 60’s and 80’s eras. As a child, Steve wore out several “The Monkees” cassettes. He was an ace playing “Name That Tune” at the Moose Lodge. Steve attended several concerts throughout the years including “The Who” and a memorable performance from Paul McCartney alongside his mother.

Steve enjoyed being outdoors. A social butterfly, he often spent his weekends in a tent alongside his close friends and their families at Wilderness Campground in Dundee, Michigan. He also spent time camping with his brother, Scott, in his camper trailer. There was nothing Steve treasured more than spending time with family and friends whom he loved deeply.

Steven William Heinzerling, age 42, of Monroe, passed away peacefully on Thursday; October 5, 2023, at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital with his parents and brother at his side.
