Obituary of Anthony Alan Barbee

Please share a memory of Anthony to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Anthony Alan Barbee was born in Detroit, Michigan on December 9, 1962.  He was one of three children born to the union of Joseph Arley Barbee and Christine Joanne (Firestone) Barbee.  He was a 1980 graduate of Harry Truman High School in Taylor, Michigan.  Anthony loved his country and with a strong desire to serve a greater cause he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp on February 3, 1982.  He obtained the rank of Corporal, serving one year in foreign services being discharged on February 2, 1986.

He made his home in Yuma, Arizonia for several years where he attended the Arizonia Police Academy taking a position with the Yuma Police.  He soon made his way back to Michigan where he worked in the Downriver area in law enforcement.  Anthony left police work to be employed in the transportation industry for Mesaba.  Working with aircraft he became a talented mechanic and often instructed others.  He became a Delta employee when Mesaba was bought out and spent several years in Georgia.  In 2018, he returned back to Monroe to be near family.

Anthony loved to ride his custom, Harley Davidson motorcycle.  He was the former President of the Leathernecks Biker Club and was proud to be known by the name of "Deadbolt".  In his free time, he often worked on his home, and being very handy he completed a plethora of projects.

Anthony was very likeable.  He was always up for a good time and usually brought the good times with him.  His favorite thing to do was to spoil his grandchildren, spoiling them with fruit snacks and ice cream.  He remained very proud of his military service, and was honored to fly the American flag.
