Obituary of Larry Dennis Wallace
Larry Dennis Wallace was born on December 14, 1948, in Middlesboro, Kentucky. He was one of six children born to the union of Casper J. Wallace and Bessie (Turner) Wallace. Larry attended Monroe High School in Monroe, Michigan. He enlisted in the United States Navy where he proudly and honorably served his country.
On July 17, 1976, at Monroe Missionary Baptist Church, Larry married the love of his life, the former Darlene Shaw. Together the couple was blessed with two wonderful daughters: Elizabeth and Stephanie. To provide for his family, Larry worked several years at Tecumseh Products. He then took a position as the Maintenance Supervisor for the United States Postal Service. He remained in this capacity for more than thirty years until his retirement in 2015.
Larry loved spending time at Bolles Harbor where he was happy to reel in whatever fish was biting. He enjoyed watching movies, with his most preferred being about war or westerns like his favorite, Broken Arrow. He regularly tuned in to CNN to stay up to date on current events happening around the United States. Larry was very family oriented and preferred a simple life, loving his wife, children, and grandchildren every chance he got.
Larry Dennis Wallace, age 74, of Monroe passed away on Monday; June 12, 2023, at the ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital. His passing was preceded by his parents: Casper and Bessie Wallace; two brothers: George Wallace and Malcolm Pierce; and two sisters: Mary Lou Newsome and Patricia Kaay Wallace.
To cherish his memory, he leaves his loving wife of forty-six years: Darlene Wallace of Monroe; two daughters: Elizabeth (Charles) Jospeh and Stephanie Lou (Jeremy Fowler) Wallace both of Monroe; a brother: William “Bill” (Sandy) Pierce of Middlesboro, Kentucky; three grandchildren: Samantha (Robert) Devine, Angel Richards, and Matthew Richards; two great grandchildren: Robert Jr. and Bethany Devine.
No public services are planned. Larry’s care has been entrusted to Merkle Funeral Service, North Monroe; 2442 North Monroe Street, Monroe, Michigan 48162 (734) 384-5185. Cremation has taken place through the on-site crematory, Covenant Cremation of Erie, Michigan.
