Obituary of Norman Duane Seegert

Please share a memory of Norman to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Norman Duane Seegert was born at Beyer Memorial Hospital in Ypsilanti Township, Michigan on January 20, 1943.  He was one of four children born from the union of Elwyn S. Seegert and Lillian Elizabeth (Lamarand) Seegert.  He attended Dundee Community Schools graduating with the Class of 1962.

Norman was married to the love of his life the former, Joanne Lynn Turnbloom on September 5, 1969, by the Justice of the Peace at the Monroe County Courthouse.  The couple was blessed with four children.  Norman was a wonderful husband and father.  Employed by Detroit Edison at their Monroe coal fire plant, he was an excellent provider for his family.   Norman continued his education at Henry Ford Community College, becoming a journeyman electrician.

Being very intuitive he had a passion for figuring out how things worked.   As an electrician he loved every facet of his position, and he was passionate about teaching his own skills to those around him.  Norman even did side jobs to help others.  His career at DTE spanned more than thirty-six years.

A lifelong Dundee resident, Norman was a member of the Dundee Oddfellows and the Southeast Michigan Antique Tractor and Engine Association, Inc.  He looked forward each year to the tractor club, meet at Nike Park in Newport.  A proud American he was not ashamed of his Second Amendment Right to bear arms and was a member of the National Rifle Association.

Norman enjoyed people.   He was very personable and seemed to like everyone.  He had the ability to strike up a conversation with anyone, even a complete stranger.  He was a wonderful family man from the way he loved his wife, to balancing a career with being active with his children.   He was always on the go playing sports with the kids, teaching them life skills, or cheering them on as they participated in their own activities.

Norman and Joanne cherished time together, with her riding on the back of his motorcycle perusing the countryside, they traveled more than 600,000 miles on their Yamaha and Honda bikes.   He enjoyed poker runs and bike rallies and for many years participated on a motorcycle drill team.
