Obituary of Ricky Charles Petit
Ricky Charles Petit was born in Monroe, Michigan on January 16, 1956. The son of Robert Charles Petit and Catherine Marie (Schneider) Petit, Ricky was one of six children. He was educated through the Monroe Public Schools, but obtained his GED while serving his country proudly and honorably in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.
On July 20, 1979, Ricky married the love of his life, the former Louise Ward and the happy couple was blessed with the birth of three children. To provide for his family, Ricky took employment as a truck driver.
Ricky loved cars in his free time he could often be found in the garage tinkering on the family automobiles. He often tuned into the latest episode of Hot Rod TV making sure that he was up on the latest car trends. He enjoyed the smell of rubber and gasoline, getting his fix as a spectator at the Flat Rock Speedway and Milan Dragway.
Most of all, Ricky cherished the time he spent with family. Camping in Adrian at Camp Sequoia, weather permitting of course, was always a favorite family pastime. He truly treasured his grandchildren, and was not afraid to cut a rug and dance with them. Ricky also quite regularly received a workout when the grandkids drove the Power Wheels Jeep he repaired. He had to keep up because each time they reached the end of the yard, Ricky assisted in turning the Jeep around. He also happily made his home with two Shih Tzu dogs named Chip and Bella whom he spoiled with treats all day long.
Although, Ricky Charles Petit had made a list of things to accomplish and places to visit, he was called home at the age of 67 on Wednesday; May 23, 2023. His passing was preceded by his parents and his eldest brother: Robert Petit.
To cherish his memory, he leaves his beloved wife of forty-four years: Louise; three children: Matthew (Jamie) Petit, Racheal (Jeremy) Michaud, and Levi Petit (Joyce Cunanan); nine wonderful grandchildren; four sisters: Brenda Vince, his twin Renee (Tom) Treece, Denise Petit, Annette (Rick) Barlow; and a sister-in-law: Belinda Petit.
