Obituary of Andrew Joseph Bodi Jr.
Andrew Joseph Bodi Jr. was born in Monroe, Michigan on April 6, 1949. He was one of five children born from the union of Andrew Joseph Bodi Sr. and Lois (Neal) Bodi. He attended Monroe High School, graduating with the Class of 1967. He later completed business courses at Monroe County Community College.
Andrew enlisted in the United States Air Force obtaining the rank of A1C while serving from February 1968 until April 1969. He married the love of his life, the former Linda Susan Ferguson on January 17, 1970, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Monroe.
Andy and Linda were blessed with two sons: Matthew and Michael. He was an excellent provider for his family, as they never wanted for anything. For forty years and four months, he was employed by the Detroit Stoker Company. He served as the Manager of Renewal Sales, retiring on August 21, 2009.
Andy was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he had served as an Usher and as a member of the Day School Commission. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and shooting sports, and was a member of the Dundee Sportsman Club. He loved woodworking.
Andrew cherished time spent with his grandchildren and attending their sports and other activities. He was known for his great sense of humor and his bad jokes otherwise known as “Andy Jokes”.
Andy Bodi, age 74, of Monroe passed away at 2:00pm on Wednesday; May 10, 2023 ProMedica Toledo Hospital after a brief illness. His passing was preceded by his parents and a sister: Ann Maxwell.
To cherish his memory, he leaves a beloved wife of fifty-three years: Linda Bodi of Monroe; two sons: Matthew Bodi and Michael (Leslie) Bodi both of Monroe; a sister: Sheila Lambert of Monroe; two brothers: James (Dora) Bodi and Robert Bodi both of Monroe; and four beloved grandchildren: Mattisyn, Max, Foster, and Hudson Bodi all of Monroe.
Friends may gather from 2:00pm until 8:00pm on Tuesday; May 16, 2023, at Merkle Funeral Service, South Monroe; 14567 South Dixie Highway, Monroe, Michigan 48161 (734) 241-7070. He will lie in state from 10:00am until 11:00am on Wednesday; May 17, 2023, at Trinity Lutheran Church; 323 Scott Street, Monroe, Michigan 48161. A Celebration of His Life will take place at 11:00am also at the church with Reverend Dr. Daniel Potts officiating. Procession will follow to Roselawn Memorial Park in LaSalle for burial. Cremation has taken place through the on-site crematory, Covenant Cremation of Erie, Michigan.
