Obituary of Nancy Carroll Harmon

Please share a memory of Nancy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Nancy Carroll Powell was born in Dundee, Michigan on July 31, 1935. She was the only daughter of three children born from the union of Wallace Powell and Ruby (Howe) Powell. Nancy attended Dundee Community Schools graduating with the class of 1953.

Nancy was born a hard worker and shortly after graduation she took a position with Jeep.  Her position began in Toledo but moved to Detroit when Chrysler purchased Jeep.  She made the most of her opportunities gaining many valuable skills throughout her forty-six-year career.

Nancy married the love of her life, Duane Harmon on October 8, 1977, in Dundee. Unfortunately, Duane passed away just seven short years after their nuptials.

Nancy received her spiritual nourishment through regular attendance at Dundee United Methodist Church.  She loved children and enjoyed sharing her passion for crocheting with them by giving handmade toys as gifts at church. Their smiles gave her great joy and satisfaction and were all the payment she needed.  On occasion, Nancy gave away candy, especially Hershey’s chocolate bars and M&M candies.

Nancy valued her relationships with friends and treasured the time she spent with them. Almost every day, she ate lunch at the Dundee Senior Center and relished in the company of her peers while playing a friendly game or two of Euchre or Cribbage.
