Obituary of Bernice Lorraine Kaschynyc

Bernice Lorraine St. Denis was born in Tilberry, Ontario, Canada on April 19, 1933.   She was one of four children born to the union of Morton St. Denis and Edna (Robert) St. Denis.  She was a graduate of Jefferson High School.

Bernice married the love of her life, Joseph George Kaschynyc, and the couple was blessed with five children of their own.   First and foremost, Bernice cared for the needs of her family as a homemaker.  She relished in her role and provided her husband and children with their needs.  The family worshipped many years at St Charles Borromeo Catholic Church where they were members.  Later in life she took employment with the Jefferson School District.  She worked for seventeen years serving at several different schools within the district. 

Bernice was a member of the Swan Creek Garden Club.  She loved the opportunity to socialize with the other women.  She especially loved to learn with them about gardening and flowers.  They often took short trips to see the work that others had completed.   Bernice was extremely proud of her own as she painstakingly worked to keep it beautiful.

Bernice Lorraine Kaschynyc, age 89 of Monroe passed away peacefully at 11:30pm on Thurssday; April 14, 2023, at Wellspring Lutheran Services in Monroe.  She was under the care of ProMedica Hospice.  Her passing was preceded by her parents; her beloved husband of more than sixty years: Joseph Kaschynyc; and two brothers:  Don St. Denis and Ken St. Denis. 

To cherish her memory, she leaves five children: Denis Kaschynyc, Karen (Cary) Kaiser, Susan Kaschynyc, Sharon Tyluki, and Gary (Kim) Kaschynyc; a sister: Shirley DeLisle; a sister-in-law: Bernice St. Denis; thirteen grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

She will lie in state from 10:00am until 11:00am on Wednesday; April 19, 2023, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church; 8109 Swan Creek Road, Newport, Michigan 48166.   The Mass of the Resurrection will take place at 11:00am also the church with Father Henry Rebello, pastor of the church presiding.  Procession will follow to St. Charles Cemetery for burial.
