Richard Thomas Glentzer or “Rick” as he was affectionately known was born on April 20, 1964 in South Bend, Indiana. He was one of four children born to the union of Francis and MaryAnn (Patnaude) Glentzer.  Rick attended Canton High School in Canton, Michigan, graduating with the class of 1982.  After high school he furthered his education at Michigan State University and Eastern Michigan University.

Rick was employed as a Senior Cost Estimator for Midway Products in Monroe, Michigan for several years before suffering a stroke in April of 2022.

Rick settled into life in Monroe.   He was a Past Commodore of the Detroit Beach Boat Club.  He found his lifelong home with some property that he shared with his two beloved dogs: Diesel and Teddy. Rick was an avid sports fan, and his heart belonged to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. During football season the three siblings, Rick, John, and Cris made sure to text during the Notre Dame games to share the experience if they weren’t together in person.

Rick had the best smile, a contagious laugh, kind heart, and gave the best bear hugs. He was a hard worker, very responsible, and ridiculously smart knowing so much about a variety of topics. Everyone that knew Rick loved his hilarious and quirky sense of humor. He was generous to a fault and was willing to help everyone he could.  Rick was well loved by anyone that had the privilege to meet him.

Richard Thomas Glentzer, age 58 of Monroe, Michigan passed away at home unexpectedly on Sunday; March 26, 2023.  His family is extremely grateful for the past year they were gifted with him to create more memories of laughter, Notre Dame football experiences, and good sibling ribbing.  His passing was preceded by his parents: Frank Glentzer and MaryAnn Collins; his sister: Susan Glentzer and his brother in law: Todd Little.

To cherish Rick’s memory he leaves a brother: John (Kori) Glentzer of Warren, Michigan; a sister: Cristine Little of Lake Isabella, Michigan; step father: Ian (Limey) Collins of Naples, Florida; a step sister: Karen (Jon) Cameron of Whitmore Lake, Michigan; and nine nieces and nephews: Keith Bonnell, Kyle Bonnell, Sara (Jon) Farrell, Tyler Richard, Allison Glentzer, Travis Little, Lucas Glentzer, Katie Glentzer, and Bradyn Glentzer.
