Lucy, Zach and family. I am so very sorry. I had no idea Jr had passed. I think about him (and you) often. I found his obituary on the OHHA website.
I have so many good memories of Jr. He would come by my office at Northfield and sit and visit. We hit it off the first time I licensed him. I loved his stories: horses, life and engineering. As you say, his smile would light up the room and when he stopped in it would improve my day immensely. I was honored with that smile many times but one of the most memorable times was when I gave him a box of Christmas fudge. Wish I could again.
Another, and the last time I saw that smile was, I believe in the fall of 2022. I stopped in at Scioto and saw he was racing so went to his barn. I was rewarded with the greatest smile of welcome a person could receive. It made my day and I will cherish that memory.
