Obituary of Richard Ray Bensley
Richard Ray Bensley was born on May 6, 1957, in Toledo, Ohio. He was one of four children born from the union of Donald Bensley and the former Jean (Connolly) Bensley. Rich grew up in Luna Pier, attending Erie Mason Schools, earning his general education development certificate in 1975. He worked faithfully many years for Goodwill as a Maintenance Supervisor before making a decision to retire.
Rich was an accomplished woodworker and incredibly passionate about the projects he made. He built picnic tables, benches, and created intricate spiral pieces that required precise attention in order to complete. He loved to be outdoors and from that love he became a Scout leader, teaching troops the ways of the wilderness for more than twelve years. Rich was passionate about the local Relay for Life, in which he participated every year and furthermore encouraged his family and friends to join him. Rich was best described by his family as very strong-willed and independent. He was very proud and never wanted to accept help from others. On the other hand, Rich had no problem being generous with his own resources. Rich was a faithful man, always keeping his bible with him.
