Obituary of Edward Henry Sobiegray
Edward H. Sobiegray was born on August 27, 1952, in Tecumseh, Michigan. He was the second eldest of six children born to Edward and Lucy (Cooley) Sobiegray. He attended Britton Public Schools. Ed was employed as a laborer at his brother-in-law’s family business, Carter Building Services, for nearly ten years prior to his retirement.
Ed enjoyed being outdoors immersed in nature. He camped and hunted deer and small game such as rabbits, squirrels, and pheasants alongside his friends. Ed was fiercely independent. He taught himself to cook well and kept his home immaculately clean. Extremely methodical, everything had its place. He never missed an episode of his favorite court television programs.
Ed had gasoline in his blood and spent much of his free time at Milan Dragway in Milan, Michigan. A diehard Chevy man, he owned a Nova in the 1970’s. He also enjoyed wrenching on his friend’s cars and helping them with their many builds. When he wasn’t at the racetrack, Ed could be found socializing at the Sidetrack Bar and Restaurant in Milan. Edward loved the ladies and was known to be quite the flirt. The consummate gentleman, he was an excellent listener and always gave his lady friends his complete attention. Although, Ed could hold a conversation for hours, he despised talking on the phone, and it was rare to keep him on the line for more than five minutes. A devoted friend, Ed cherished his relationships and was never afraid to tell anyone that he loved them.
