Dorothy was a active participant in our NTM Support Group. Her good humor, persistence, and perception were always appreciated. Dorothy mastered Zoom and attended our meetings even after her move from Michigan to Florida. It was our good fortune to have her as a friend.

What a wonderful lady. I knew Meg from the Dundee Christmas Home Tours in the 1990s. She loved Dundee, and I was always happy when I saw her around town. RIP

Q: What will you never forget about Dorothy?
A: I first met the Heinlen family when we move across the street in 1975. So much activity at that home! Such great neighbors and example of a thriving American family. I’d often see “Mrs Heinlen” at St Irene’s with our family. One of my fondest memories of Dorthy remains of her bringing Laura (I think) to swim lessons at the school pool where I was a swim instructor and lifeguard. I remember her shouting and laughing at Laura from the side of the pool as I was teaching Laura to float on her back, but Laura would have none-of-it! I wasn’t the best swim instructor but I think in the end Laura learned to swim in spite of my rookie teaching skills. Dorthy was coaching me how to teach while I was instructing Laura. Dorthy you (and your beloved Douglas) are sorely missed. You are in my prayers. Thank you for being such great examples on how to live life to its fullest.

I first formally met Meg in 1981 when we did a production of "Cheaper by the Dozen" for the Dundee Community Theatre. She played "Mother" to my "Anne", and for years after she would jokingly introduce me as her "other daughter, Anne". Working and playing with her was one of the high points in my life.
She was a part of a small but extremely determined group of people who worked for hours on end doing every sort of job that was required to save and renovate Dundee's Old Mill, from opening up their homes for tours, to cooking amazing fundraising meals, to not being afraid to get dirty--and yet still coming forth as some of the most gracious, elegant, well educated people I've ever known. It's been my honor to share a small part of her life.
Much love to you Liz and Laura and your families. Norma Fisher-Mixon
