Mr. Bullard was an amazing educator. As a 5th grader he really inspired us to learn and encouraged our individual creativity with his Friday afternoon Situation Stories. He was a major influence in my decision to pursue a degree in science. I will always remember his red high top converse sneakers, making volcanos in the basement, and making apple cider in his yard.

My name is Jesse Gerweck and I had Mr Bullard "Mr B" for my 4th and 5th grade class in 1999 and 2000 respectfully. There is not enough words I can say about the respect I had for this man back then and still to this day. He was such a kind hard soul as well as smart bold teacher. I remember so many things from back then because of him. I remember volcano building, and helping the first and second graders, just like the 4th and 5th graders used to do back when I was in the second grade, as well as there was the amazing interesting situation stories. You would read them aloud and would have to finish them and everybody had a wacky finish to them. Some not so nice, some very well written. I remember him asking for me personally for his fifth grade class after I graduated 4th grade. Not too many people got to have the same teacher twice in Christiancy elementary. But I did. And I am forever grateful that I was able to graduate elementary School from his class and his teachings. I remember going over to his house for cider and learning how to make cider. As well as having fun with the class playing basketball and other unique games that he would do when we went over to his house for those cider days. And in class, he was so helpful and it made it hard not to pass his class. I also remember going to the state capitol on a field trip. We went so far high up in the chamber and I remember being so scared because I was scared of heights. Do you know who calmed me down? Mr Bullard. Told me there was nothing to be afraid of that I was "a-okay" that he had my back. I remember I'm coming to my graduation party for bowling. My only regret is not staying in touch with him over the years though I've always wanted to stay in touch with him I just never knew how to really contact him. Rest in peace teach an old friend. You don't have to suffer anymore thank you so much and I'll never forget the memories

My name is Josh and I had Mr. Bullard at Christiancy Elementary School in the early 2000s for 4th and 5th grade. He was truly a special teacher and he really made a positive impact in my life as I went through school with ADHD but he did not treat me any different from the other kids.
He would always say "Good Man" when I would finish small worksheets of 100 question multiplication tests and that little gesture alone meant everything to me.
I went to the Tigers game with him and fellow classmates in 2000 and he bought me a teddy bear which I still have today to remember him by. He actually got me a few as he knew I loved sports and he would sometimes give me Sports Cards knowing I liked to collect them too.
I never got the chance to reconnect with Mr. Bullard over the years but I know from who he was and by his character he is in a much better place. Thank you Roger and rest easy, my favorite teacher and friend.

Mr. Bullard was my favorite teacher. I had him for 6th grade and have many fond memories of being in his class. As a kid you didn't want to disappoint him and if you got out of line he would let you know and for good reason. He included my dad as basketball coach and we won a few championships in the 70s. He had some of us using chalk on the hallway walls to measure our vertical jump. Great memories of field trips and tubing at his house... he also took students to Airport basketball games. I was silently standing in line next to him at the McKinney union cafeteria (EMU) a number of years later and he turns, "so how are you John?" What a memory.
What a wonderful legacy and impact he made.

Those 1970s Christiancy years were special. Mr. Donahoe as Principal and Mr. Bullard as teacher and coach and so many others. I didn't have Mr. Bullard as a teacher, but he coached basketball with my dad, Pastor Paul Richert for many years and they had a wonderful relationship. Also, in a small neighborhood school like Christiancy, only 2 classes per grade level k-6, we all pretty much knew each other. A family feel. Mr. Bullard, kind and gentle in personality and voice, helped make Christiancy a special place for everyone.
May God's Son, Jesus Christ our Lord & Savior, comfort Mr. Bullard's family and all who grieve his passing.
Christ is risen! He is risen, Indeed! Alleluia!

School was something that I "had to do" until I had Mr. Bullard. Thanks to Mr. Bullard, in my 6th grade year, it changed to something that I wanted to do.
I remember Mr. Bullard's enthusiasm, inclusiveness and kindness and I'm happy to have been one of his students. When I connect with my other 6th grade classmates, someone usually conjures up a Roger Bullard story.
I have great memories of making apple cider, tubing at his place and playing basketball for him and Pastor Richard. That year, we put on a play that he wrote and I didn't have a part. Knowing that I wanted to pariticipate, he wrote me my own part!
Sadly, I didn't know him as an adult and that's my loss.
Prayers for the family and God Bless Mr. Bullard!

Roger Bullard was a true one of a kind soul. I cannot begin to measure the level of influence this man gave me as a young stubborn kid who without his influence would have likely went down a bad path. To this day I often talk of him to people about the positive energy he gifted me, always having time to take me to high school and EMU basketball and football games. My oldest daughter was also in his class the last year before he retired and I was thrilled she had him for a teacher! Trips to his home as a class making cider, and summer cookouts tubing down otter creek were life long great memories.
Mr. Bullard, thank you for being who you were

Everyone has a teacher that made a difference for them, Mr.Bullard was that teacher for me. I was an undiagnosed dyslexic student and I struggled most of my elementary years. Mr Bullard made science fun and this helped me focus and my grades showed it. He was very encouraging and for the fist time I realized I could excel at one subject even if I struggled in another. He changed that for me. I went on to college and am a respiratory therapist in an area hospital. I will be forever grateful that he believed in me. Prayers and Love to his family. Jill (Russell) Lambert.

Mr Bullard was such a wonderful guy and teacher. He cared about his kids in his classroom. We had a special bond being we grew up in Carleton and an airport graduate. He knew my dad since he worked at Airport School. So he always took a special interest in our son. Prayers to the family during this difficult time and know he will forever hold special memories with our family.

An absolutely wonderful man and teacher. I had him for both 5th and 6th grade and there was never a better time for me in school...period. Loved being in his class and still till this day are some of the fondest childhood memories.
I will never forget writing "Situation Stories" every week. We would each read our own and we would laugh and carry on like fools, including Roger.
His trips to his home to make apple cider and tube down the creek were the best school trips.
He would get myself, him, my brother, father, and one of the coaches and he would get us into the school at night to play basketball with us. He was a wonderful mentor and always had time for you. They do not make them like him anymore, that's for sure.
With much love Mr. Bullard, all Christiancy Cobras will miss you dearly.

Mr. Bullard was my favorite teacher for a million reasons. I could name so many fond memories from the two years I was lucky enough to have him as my teacher at Christiancy. Some of my favorites that I hold warmly in my heart are:
- Volcano building in the basement of the school.
- The way he pulled a yellowed, very old piece of paper out of his shirt pocket on Fridays and would read us a “Situation Story”- a cliff hanger written by him that we had to finish writing. I looked forward to it every week!
- Seeing him as an adult and having him recall things in incredible detail from decades ago about me.
- And by far my favorite…our special birthday lunches because our birthdays were one day apart. We would travel to my house at lunch time on his birthday or mine, and my mom would cook us a special lunch to enjoy. She would then send us back to school with treats for the class.
He was a very special teacher to me, to say the least. I am forever grateful for the positive impact he had on me as a child, and how he greatly influenced my decision to become a teacher myself.
Rest in Peace, Mr Bullard, knowing you changed the world for the better for me and so many others.

I’m so sorry to hear of the passing of Mr. Bullard. I had Mr. Bullard for sixth grade at Christiancy. He was the absolute most memorable teacher I ever had. He didn’t treat us like little kids, and he instilled a love of learning that I am forever grateful for. He was kind, fair and fun and will forever remain my favorite teacher. I remember him taking our whole class to his house to take rafts down the creek behind his house. Such memorable times - Something today’s kids will never get to experience. Many condolences and prayers to his wife and children… He was a good man through and through, and I will never forget him.

Had Mr. Bullard in early 70’s for sixth grade. Good teacher.
Loved his very long spelling tests.
We took field trip to I believe his dads house on Grafton Rd.
It was a very big deal to us.
And another time he told us this scary story about something in the woods when he was younger. But I remember he kept laughing. Now I realize he was yanking our chains lol.
He will be missed..

Roger came into our family when I was about 14 when he married my sister. It was like having another big brother. He was the kindest man and always had a smile. We met up with Mary and Roger for many travel adventures and he was great at beating me at cards.
Roger you will always be in our hearts. Rest in peace dear brother-in-law.

The Bullard family has my thoughts, prayers, and sympathy at the loss of Roger during the holiday season.
I taught fourth through six grade just like Roger at Hollywood School for MPS. We would attend grade level meetings together for almost 30 years. Also Roger and I taught Summer School together for to many years. We had a lot of conversations about sports throughout our times together. I remember how he loved the NCAA March madness basketball tournament and Mr. Rankins would try to fill out a winning bracket.
Also my son Brian had Roger for a teacher in 5th grade and just loved him. They nicknamed him Mr. Science guy because of the cool experiments Roger would do with the class. When Brian got a few years older he worked a few landscaping jobs with him. Brian sure thought the world of Mr. “B” , another nickname for Roger.
I will always remember him as a kind, soft spoken, and a humble man. I will miss his smile. Restin peace my friend. Ed Ready
