Obituary of Nathan Roger Dotson

Nathan Roger Dotson came into our lives on May 13, 1992 weighing 9 lbs. 4 oz. Proud parents, Mike and Joyce, were immediately in awe of this precious gift. Four years later his little brother, Kyle, came along and Nathan immediately took him under his wing, showing him the ropes. Always laughing and playing, the pair were inseparable. Growing up, Nathan taught Kyle all the important things such as BMX tricks, skateboarding, and snowboarding. Not only a wonderful son and brother, Nathan’s unmistakable love shone brightly for all his family and friends. So many described him as having a huge heart and loving all people. Not a shy person in the slightest, Nathan could talk to anyone at any time. His elementary school principal once said that he could see Nathan becoming the CEO of a large corporation. Many in his family always said he would be a great politician or an attorney because of his gift of gab.

Nathan Roger Dotson, age 30, of Portland, Oregon passed away unexpectedly on Monday; October 17, 2022. Nathan was determined to find his own path. Even his last statement to the world was typical Nathan. He gave his all for his friends and died a hero trying to protect the ones he loved. He will forever be a hero!

To cherish his memory, he leaves his father: Mike (Sonia) Dotson; mother: Joyce (Mark) Massengill; two brothers: Kyle (Miranda) Dotson and Jefferson Vasquez; a sister: Emily Breining; grandparents: Bill (Brenda) Dotson and Eve Dotson; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Friends may gather on Thursday; November 10, 2022, from 2:00pm until 6:00pm at Merkle Funeral Service, North Monroe; 2442 North Monroe Street, Monroe, Michigan 48162 (734) 384-5185. A Celebration of Nathan’s Life will begin at 6:00pm also at Merkle’s.
