Jonathon Howard Monday was born in Monroe on September, 26, 1986. He was one of three children born from the union of Johnny and Kim (Simmons) Monday. Jonathon attended Monroe Schools graduating with the Class of 2004.
For many years Jonathon worked in the manufacturing industry. He had worked for several different companies most recently being employed by the Fauricia Company in Saline, Michigan.
Jonathon had a strong faith in Christ. He received his spiritual nourishment as a member of the Petersburg Missionary Baptist Church, but had also attended Frenchtown Missionary Baptist Church.
Jonathon was an avid fisherman. He was a big sports fan and enjoyed cheering on the Detroit Tigers, the University of Michigan Football, but most of all his beloved Dallas Cowboys.
Jonathon had a heart of gold. He enjoyed conversation and was blessed with a gift of gab. More than anything he enjoyed the time that he spent with his family and friends. Jonathon was generous to others and always willing to lend a helping hand. He enjoyed cooking. Jonathon was known to be quite particular, and at times a perfectionist. He liked things being done a certain way.
Jonathon Howard Monday, age 27 of Monroe passed from this life to his heavenly home on Saturday, August 16, 2014. His beloved family was at his side. His passing was preceded by paternal grandparents: James and Margie Monday; maternal great grandmother: Lillian Banks; a cousin: Thomas Mattingly; and paternal great grandparents: Granny Lou and John Monday.
To cherish his memory, Jonathon leaves his parents: John and Kim (Simmons) Monday of Monroe; two sisters: Cassandra (David) Mullins and Kayla Monday of Monroe; maternal grandparents: Gary and Janet Simmons of Monroe, maternal great grandfather: John Banks; his fiancé': Haley Phalen of Erie; two nephews: Isaac and Jay Monday; and an unborn child.
Friends may gather from 2:00pm until 8:00pm on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at Merkle Funeral Service, South Monroe (formerly Bennett Funeral Services) 14567 South Dixie Highway (734) 241-7070. A Celebration of His Life will take place at 11:00am on Thursday, August 21, 2014 also at Merkle's with Pastor BJ McDaniels officiating. Procession will follow to Woodland Cemetery for burial.
