Gwendolyn Hope Solo was born in Sibley, Michigan now known as Trenton on April 6, 1927.   She was one of eight children born from the union of Napoleon Solo and Mildred (Hope) Solo.   She attended Sibley School.

Gwendolyn married the love of her life, Anthony Ferrante, when she was only 15 years old on September 25, 1942.   The couple was blessed with eight children   Gwendolyn was a wonderful wife and loving mother being very generous, often sacrificing herself to make sure her family had what they needed.   She loved to learn and was quite wise.   Her lovely sense of humor was sure to keep a smile on her loved one’s faces.

Gwendolyn was strong in her Catholic faith worshipping regularly at St. Patrick Church in Carleton.   To make ends meet she worked outside of the home.   She was employed as a Sales Associate for Kmart for more than thirty years working at their Monroe and Alpena stores.   She had also been employed by Elder Beerman at the Frenchtown Square Mall for several years. 

She also loved ceramics, reading and her cats Molly and Belle.

Gwendolyn Hope Ferrante, age 95, of Carleton passed away at 12:48am on Sunday; August 28, 2022, at Wellspring Lutheran Services.   Her passing was preceded by her parents; a daughter:  Antonia "Toni" Ferrante; a son:  Michael Ferrante; her beloved husband:  Anthony on February 21, 1983; a granddaughter:  Paula (Pates) Williams; and six siblings:  Mary, Susan, Joan, Patricia, Mark, and Wesley.  

To cherish her memory, she leaves six children:  Pamela Pates of Taylor, Mary Majtyka of Carleton, Anthony Peter Ferrante of Brighton, Stephen (Eileen) Ferrante of Gaylord, Paul Ferrante of El Paso, Texas, and Charles (Tammy) Ferrante of New Boston; one brother:  Paul (Emily) Solo of Spruce, Michigan; and many, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

Her care was entrusted to Merkle Funeral Service, South Monroe; 14567 South Dixie Highway, Monroe, Michigan 48161 (734) 241-7070.   Cremation has taken place through Covenant Cremation of Erie, Michigan.   A private graveside service will be held at Ferndale Cemetery in Riverview where her cremated remains will be interred.
