Obituary of Mary Ann Stasa
Mary Ann Roberts was born in Newport, Michigan on April 29, 1940. She was the daughter of Chauncey and Hazel (Chinavare) Roberts. She attended Airport Community Schools graduating with the Class of 1958. In the same year on September 13th, Mary would marry the love of her life, Frank Joseph Stasa Jr. at St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church in Rockwood, Michigan.
Mary and Frank were blessed with five children, and for many years she cared for the needs of her family as a homemaker. She was loving and caring, a fantastic baker, excellent sewer, and wonderful hostess, always ensuring everyone had plenty to eat. Once the children were old enough, Mary became a teacher for twenty years at the Carleton Country Day School, retiring in 1994.
She was strong in her faith, attending Mass at St. Patrick Parish in Carleton. Mary was a member of the Altar Society, served as the Funeral Dinner Coordinator, and sang alongside Frank in the choir. She was also a member of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary and a volunteer with the Shriners and with the RSVP of Monroe county. For more than twenty years, She and Frank were active participants with the First Pennsylvania Regiment Reenactors of the Revolutionary War.
Mary loved spending time with family. She enjoyed monthly get-togethers with her sisters or watching her grandchildren in any of their extracurricular activities, from recitals to games, being an especially vocal football fan. She and Frank loved to travel. They enjoyed camping and traveling extensively throughout the United State and overseas. On many of these journeys, the grandchildren were fortunate enough to tag along.
Mary Ann Stasa, age 82, of Carleton passed away under the care of Elara Caring Hospice at 12:13am on Saturday; August 6, 2022 at Elderly Solutions where she had resided since January. Her passing was preceded by her parents; two brothers: Robert and Thomas Roberts; two sisters: Ada Reaume and Helen Gaynier; a brother-in-law: George Granger; and a sister-in-law: Margaret Roberts.
To cherish her memory, she leaves her husband: Frank J. Stasa Jr. of Carleton; five children: Frank (Lilo) Stasa III of Carleton, Holly (Gary) Baker of Carleton, Heidi (Richard) Grant of Carleton, Bart (Roseann) Stasa of Carleton, and Benjamin (Ivona) Stasa of Plymouth; two sisters: Donna Granger of Trenton, and Betty (Dennis) Beste of Carleton; a brother: Duane Roberts of Detroit; sisters-in-law: Sharon Roberts of Tecumseh, and Evelyn Roberts of Newport; seventeen grandchildren: Frank (Missy) Stasa IV, Paul (Heather) Stasa, Ryan (Mayra) Stasa, Brad (Shannon) Baker, Alison (Macie) Grant, Jessica (Spencer) Machcinski, Sarah (Jeff) Myers, Alexander Grant, Aaron Grant, Jacob (Chelsea) Stasa, Austin Grant, Zach Baker, Bart Stasa, Caitlin Stasa, Zack Stasa, Amalia Stasa, Brianna Stasa; and thirteen great grandchildren.
Mary will lie-in-state on Friday; August 12, 2022 from 1:00pm until 2:00pm at Divine Grace Parish - St. Patrick Church; 2996 West Labo Road, Carleton, Michigan 48117. The Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 2:00pm with Father Mike Woroniewicz presiding. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
