Obituary of Everett Parker

Everett Parker was born in Bluffton, Indiana on November 13, 1941. He was one of two children born from the union of the late William Everett Parker and the late Olivenna Mae (Moore) Parker. He graduated from Wayne High School in 1959 enlisting in the United States Army. Butch honorably served until 1968, spending time in Vietnam where he was wounded. He obtained the rank of Sergeant.
Butch married the former Nila "June" Martin on May 18, 1963 in Winchester, Virginia. A loving family man, he wanted nothing more than to be a good provider for his family. Butch was never afraid of hard work and he spent twenty-eight years at General Motors as a Machine Repairman. He was a member of United Auto Workers Local 14 retiring in 2004.
Butch was proud of his service and was a well loved lifetime member of Monroe Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1138 serving on the ritual team and a member of the American Legion. Being an avid outdoorsman, Butch loved to spend time Up North at his cabin, where he enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Everett "Butch" Parker of Monroe passed away at home on Saturday, July 5, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. In addition to his parents his passing was preceded by father and mother-in-law: Wilbert "Ray" and Emma Martin; and a step-sister: Gladys Parker.
To cherish his memory he leaves his beloved wife of fifty-two years, Nila "June" of Monroe; two daughters: Emma May (Bob) Nolff of Newport and Everetta Ann (Randy) Ingram of Portland, Indiana; two sons: Larry Joe (Barbara) Beliles, Sr. of Howell and Chester Ray Beliles of the Upper Peninsula; a sister: Beverly Ruth Ann (Frank) Rutherford of Melbourne, Florida; seven grandchildren; Bobbi (Jason), Larry Joe Jr., Todd, Adam, Lacey, Bradley and Brooklyn, and four great-grandchildren; Maykala, Mia, Austin and Jacob.
Friends may gather from 2:00-8:00pm, Thursday, July 10, 2014 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. A Celebration of His Life will take place at 11:00am on Friday, July 11, 2014 also at Merkle's with Reverend Roy Southerland pastor of Monroe Missionary Baptist Church officiating. Cremation will follow through Southern Michigan Services in Livonia.
