Obituary of Bruce Chamberlain

BLOOMINGTON — Bruce A. Chamberlain, 52, of Monroe, Mich., formerly Bloomington, passed away at 5:53 p.m. Sunday (May 18, 2014) in Monroe, Mich.
A celebration of life service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home, Bloomington. Visitation will be one hour prior to service Saturday at the memorial home. Cremation rites have been accorded.
Memorials may be made to Lucas Chamberlain Education Fund at Commerce Bank, Normal.
Bruce was born on April 11, 1962, in Kewanee, a son of Larry E. and Sharon R. Brignadello Chamberlain. He married Jane E. Anderson on June 1, 1991, in Bloomington. She survives.
Surviving are a son, Lucas A. Chamberlain, Normal; two daughters, Kathryn D. (Mark) Tilley, Normal, and Rachel L. Hradecky, DeKalb; two sisters, Lori Theobald (Dave) Scott, Normal, and Marcie (Bill) Powell, Monroe, Mich.; and nieces and nephews, Madisen, Keely and Parker Theobald and Charlie, Ellie, William and Leah Powell.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Pete Theobald.
Bruce grew up in rural Bloomington. He attended elementary school at Ben Funk and graduated from Heyworth High School, Class of 1980. He attended both Knox College in Galesburg and Illinois State University in Normal. He played football all four years at Heyworth High School and at Knox College.
After his college years, he worked at Illinois Wesleyan University library and Bloomington Public Library. Later, he worked as a welder for Hundman Lumber Mart in Bloomington.
Bruce enjoyed music and listening to The Who, Elton John and John Prine. He loved drawing and reading.
He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Bears fan. He loved the good times with friends and family and cherished all his family. He was a caring and loving father, uncle and brother.
