Obituary of Malaki Christian Giles
Malaki C. Giles was born on February 2, 2010 in Sylvania, Ohio to Amanda Garcia and Allen Giles. Malaki was a fifth-grade student at Summerfield Elementary School in Petersburg, Michigan. A talented artist, his classmates were in awe of the quick sketches he created on his schoolwork. Malaki could find a way to express his creativity in any situation. Even during spelling tests he would draw each item listed next to the corresponding word.
Malaki had a passion for building Legos. He was an avid video gamer and explored different worlds within virtual reality. Apex Legends, Gorilla Tag, Minecraft, and Call of Duty were among his favorite Xbox and computer games. Malaki also spent time on his iPad watching videos on YouTube. He especially enjoyed documentaries about animals and nature. Malaki was very excited to sponsor a polar bear and wore the rubber bracelet he received in exchange for his donation with great pride.
Malaki had recently learned to play pool alongside his brother. He enjoyed spending time at his family’s lake house on Catawba Island and fishing on Lake Erie with his father. Malaki always looked forward to visiting nearby Cedar Point. On a recent visit he happened to hear one of his favorite songs, “Y.M.C.A.”, which he enthusiastically sang and danced along to. Malaki always ordered his go-to meal of chicken tenders and macaroni and cheese whenever it was on the menu and his love of Twinkies and Yoo-hoo was well known.
An introvert, Malaki was an observer and a deep thinker. However, if he were comfortable in his surrounding his lighthearted sense of humor would emerge. Malaki was an easy-going kid who never complained. He was kind-hearted and never spoke ill of anyone.
