Obituary of Charles Bailey

Charles was born July 25, 1937 in Detroit, Michigan from the union of the late Charles Russell Bailey and the late Hilda (Korolishin) Bailey. Charles was the first of two children. He grew up and attended school in Taylor, Michigan. Charles married Genevieve "Pat" Truchen on January 25, 1964 in Taylor.
Charles was fortunate to have five children: Dennis Charles Bailey of Buena Vista, Colorado; Charles James Bailey Jr. of Moore, Oklahoma; Brenda Rudisill of Newport, Michigan; Gregory Russell Bailey of Monroe, Michigan; and John Phillip Bailey of Detroit, Michigan. He was also blessed with seven grandchildren: Dennis W. Bailey, Bradley C. Bailey, Timothy A. Bailey, Kristen Ann Cobaugh, Megan M. Bates, Jennifer A. (Rob) Capeling, and Brian G. Bates. Charles and Genevieve also raised a grandson: John Phillip Bailey Jr. as their own son. His sister: Elaine Pashadlo currently resides in Taylor, Michigan.
For more than ten years, Charles was employed by General Motors as a tool and die maker. He then spent thirty-three years with the Ford Motor Company. He worked at the Dearborn Design Center as a metal fabricator. He retired in 1994.
Charles and Pat, along with their grandson, John Jr. spent much of their time traveling and visiting their Florida Keys residence in the winter.
Charles had many varied interests, but most of all he enjoyed working in his yard. He was a past member of the Brest Bay Gun Club and currently was a member of the Washtenaw Sportsman Club.
Charles James Bailey, age 71, of Newport passed away at his home on January 10, 2009. His loving family was at his side. For the past week the family had been under the care of Mercy Memorial Hospice of Monroe. In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in his passing by a step grandson: Ryan R. Starr.
Private family services were held to honor his life and achievements. Cremation has taken place through Southern Michigan Service in Livonia, Michigan. Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185 was entrusted with his arrangements.
