Obituary of Narciso Guzman

Narciso Guzman was born in Dallas, Texas on October 29, 1926. He was one of five children born from the union of the late Norberto Guzman and the late Marianna (Garcia) Guzman. Narciso married the love of his life the former, Purificacion Garza on May 5, 1945. Together they raised eight children. A devoted family man, Narciso labored forty-five years for Ohio Specialty.
Narciso was a God-fearing man with a devout Catholic faith. Believing strongly in the power of prayer, Narciso lifted up those around him with his daily petitions. He received spiritual nourishment through regular attendance as a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Erie. He also participated with the parish's St. Peter & St. Paul's prayer groups.
Narciso loved the outdoors and fishing was a favorite pastime. He especially enjoyed this hobby when he caught the biggest fish. Narciso was very proud of his children and grandchildren he enjoyed family gatherings cherishing every moment spent with them. He enjoyed music, dancing, and the company of his friends at the Luna Pier Senior Center.
Narciso Guzman Sr., age 87 of Erie passed away peacefully at 9:35am, Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at MagnumCare of Monroe. In addition to his parents his passing was preceded by two brothers: Eligio Morin and Jesus Guzman and a sister: Antonia Herrera.
To cherish his memory Narciso leaves his beloved wife of sixty-nine years: Purificacion of Erie; eight children: Soila (Ernesto) Contreras of Ottawa Lake, Augustina (Ernest) Hilden of Park Rapids, Minnesota, Anna Maria (Cuauhtemoc) Hernandez of Toledo, Narciso (Brenda) Guzman Jr. of Monroe, Jesus Guzman of Park Rapids, Minnesota, Delfina (Guadalupe) Pedroza of Toledo, Jose Guzman of Phoenix, and Valentina (Douglas) Kelley of Raeford, North Carolina; one brother: Concepcion Guzman of Donna, Texas; nineteen grandchildren; and eighteen great grandchildren.
Friends may gather from 2:00pm until 8:00pm on Sunday, September 7, 2014 at Merkle Funeral Service, 9156 Summit Street, Erie, Michigan (734)848-5185. He will lie in State from 10:00 am until the Mass of the Resurrection at 11:00am at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 4605 St. Anthony Road in Temperance on Monday, September 8, 2014. Father Brian Hurley pastor of the church will officiate. Procession will follow to St. Joseph Cemetery in Erie for burial.
