Obituary of Victor Badalamenti

Victor Emanuel Badalamenti, was born February 8, 1926 in Monroe, Michigan. He was the son of the late Emanuel and the late Mary (Solomon) Badalamenti. Victor attended Monroe High School and was a member of the Class of 1944. He served during World War II with the United States Army as a member of the Field Artillery in Central Europe. During his service he was awarded a Bronze Star, a Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal, and the Army of Occupation Medal (Germany). He was discharged on June 15, 1946.
Victor was married to his soul mate Kathleen Bartolotta on October 6, 1951 by Father Vanadia at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Monroe. From this union they were given the gift of four beautiful daughters: Mary Badalamenti at home, Vickie Badalamenti of Monroe, Kathy (Dave) Brown of Monroe, and Lisa Bandalamenti-Lenz (Rick Lenz) of Dundee. Victor also was blessed with eight grandchildren: Jerimiah Brown, Jenna Kidd, Ethan Brown, Vinnie and Ben Giarmo, Mandy Nadeau, Jake and Joe Luthy, and a great granddaughter: Sophia Nadeau.
For many years Victor worked in Life Insurance Sales. He was an agent for the Western and Southern Insurance Company retiring in 1976.
Victor was a "Family Man". He loved his children and grandchildren dearly. He enjoyed conversing with others, and especially loved sharing a cup of coffee with his sisters: Fara (Lee) Sulfaro of Monroe, Rose (Ben) Bullock of Monroe, and Chris (Sam) Evola of Amhertsberg, Canada, and a brother-in-law: Glen Osborn. He was a woodworker, but also enjoyed bird watching from his sunroom. Victor hunted the occasional backyard varmit, as well. He had been a member of the VFW since 1965.
Victor E. Badalamenti, age 82, of Frenchtown Township passed away January 1, at St. Vincent Hospital. In addition to his parents his passing was preceded by sister: Annie DeFiore and her husband Nick, sister: Mary Osborn, sister: Josephine Sulfaro and her husband Joe, and nephews: Jimmy Bailey and Jude DeFiore.
Friends may gather from 1:00-8:00pm, Monday; January 5, 2009 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street, (734) 384-5185 where a Celebration of His Life will take place at 11:00am on Tuesday. The Rev. Roy Southerland will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Graveside services will be under the Auspices of VFW Post 1138.
