Obituary of James Fellus Moore
James Fellus Moore was born in Monroe, Michigan on October 7, 1940. He was the son of Roger James "R.J." Moore and Wanda Elizabeth (Lloyd) Moore. James wasn’t one to be afraid of work. He attended Dundee Schools through the eighth grade, leaving to help his parents on the farm. As a young man he enjoyed horses and was a member of the 4-H River Raisin Riding Club winning a Blue Ribbon at the Monroe County Fair.
He spent many successful hours deer hunting the fields of the farm. Many summers were spent in Barrington, Michigan on the families 400-acre farm. Here James and “Butch” worked to repair fence they also enjoyed fishing the streams. Back in Monroe County he cherished time spent along the banks of the River Raisin fishing.
James married Barbara Ann Orns in November of 1971 and the couple was blessed with the birth of one son Shawn Jamieson. They had attended Petersburg United Methodist Church. The couple built a home across the road from the family farm. James eventually moved back to his parent’s home to care for the needs of his mother while she was in declining health. After his own health deteriorated, he enjoyed the freedom afforded him riding up and down his dead-end road on his Mule side-by-side.
James was employed as a Machine Operator for Dundee Products, an automotive industry supplier from 1966 until his retirement in 2004. After retirement he filled his time maintaining his property always mowing grass, weed eating, and trimming bushes. James had a great sense of humor. He was quite comfortable with himself and was perfectly fine to sit on his back porch by the wood stove appreciating all that nature had to offer.
