Obituary of Benedette "Bene" Wood
Benedette Ann Barron was born on March 8, 1942, in Monroe, Michigan. She was one of three children born from the union of John Percy and Mary (Simonelli) Barron. Shortly after graduating from Monroe High School, Benedette, would marry the love of her life: Clarence H. Wood. The happy couple made their home in Monroe and would be blessed with three children. Benedette would gain employment with the Jefferson School System as an instructional classroom aide.
Bene, as she was affectionately known, treasured her quiet time. There were not many occasions she ventured away from her home. However, to keep her mind active, she often delved into solving crossword puzzles, although, on occasion, Bene, could be seen perusing the aisles at the local thrift store, trying to catch a great deal.
Above anything, Bene, truly loved her family. She was quite specific in how she wanted things accomplished. In fact, this was so well known that she earned the titles of “Major Bene” or “Sarge”. She didn’t mind the razzing and enjoyed every minute spent with her loved ones. She also liked hanging out with her four-legged companions, especially her dogs; a Lhasa Apso named Lucy and a Maltese Poodle named Bridgette.
Benedette Ann Wood, age 80, of Monroe, passed away at 9:28pm on Thursday March 31, 2022, at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital. Her passing was preceded by both her parents; one brother: Jim Barron; and one grandson: Elijah Wood.
