Obituary of Linda Lee Valerio

Linda Lee Ellison was born in Detroit, Michigan on April 8, 1945.   She was the daughter of James C. Ellison and Ruth (McDonald) Ellison.

On February 16, 1963 in Monroe, Michigan, Judge Lajiness, married Linda to Donald Valerio.   The couple had five children.   For many years, Linda cared for the needs of her husband and children as a homemaker.   She was employed, however, at Greenbrook Manor of thirteen years as a Direct Care Worker retiring in 1999.   She continued providing for her family being the primary caregiver to her husband, her two brothers:  Gary and John; and her parents; and two uncles during their final illnesses.

Linda made her home in LaSalle for more than fifty years having previously lived in Detroit and Chicago.   She loved to garden and grow flowers.   Her home wasn’t complete without the love of her furry four legged companions, dogs:  faithful Nicco - long haired chiuahua, Lady Jane - toy poddle, Sarah - daschund, Cocco and Muffy - cockapoos.   She also enjoyed feeding and watching her birds.   Each year she looked forward to canning - jelly, tomatoes, green beans, and hot peppers.   She was a fanatic about vitamins, oils, and old remedies.   She often read health magazines and enjoyed buying her kids and grandkids gifts out of magazines, and sharing her remedies with others.   She loved panda bears and crocheting baby blankets for her grandchildren.

Linda Lee Valerio, age 76, of LaSalle passed away at her daughter Tina’s Monroe home on Thursday; February 3, 2022.   She had been under the care of Elara Caring Hospice and was particularly fond of her nurses:  Laurie and Shania.   Her passing was preceded by her parents; her beloved husband, Donald Sr. on May 19, 2010; a son Jason; two sisters:  Melinda Carpenter and Sandra Albain; three brothers:  Gary Ellison, John Ellison, and Flip Ellison; two granddaughters:  Andrea Thomas and Melanie Tapley; and a son-in-law:  Gary Lee Bomia.

To cherish her memory she leaves four children:  Tina Bomia of Monroe, Donald Valerio, Jr. of LaSalle, Lisa Valerio of Monroe, and Jamie (Steve) Spaulding of Adrian; one sister:  Melissa (Jeff) Doom of Erie, MI; one brother:  Michael (Debra) Ellison of Monroe; grandchildren:  Eric Bomia, Shaun Ziegler, Rush Ziegler and Jason Spaulding; great-grandchildren: Star Anteau, Skyla Tickle, Gary Thomas, Stormy Thomas, Zepth Clark and Christopher and Crystal.
