Obituary of Dorothy Brazill
Please share a memory of Dorothy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Dorothy Ruth Sorke was born December 19, 1924 in Detroit, Michigan from the union of the late Edward and Katherine Sorke.
Dorothy married Bernard "Mike" Brazill Jr. on September 4, 1948. From this marriage they were blessed with an awesome legacy of eight loving children: Jimmy Brazill of South Rockwood; Diane "Dee-de" (Bill) Moede and Michael Edward "Mickey" (Patricia) Brazill both of Monroe, Timothy Shawn (Kyle) Brazill of Wyandotte; Patricia Katherine "Patty" "Patsy" (Ray) VanWasshnova of South Rockwood; Sue Ann "Susie" (Eugene) Gill of Walkerville; Leslie (Rebecca) Brazill of Ruby, MI; Linda (Jerry) Willis of Newport; twenty-four grandchildren; and thirty-two great grandchildren.
Dorothy had a lifelong appreciation for learning. She completed courses at the University of Detroit and Monroe County Community College. She was a history buff, and had obtained a collection of artifacts of her hero, John F Kennedy.
Dorothy was always willing to lend a helping hand. Whether she was folding clothes at the laundromat for someone she just met, participating as a census worker, or spending elections serving as a precinct delegate; Dorothy could always be found making new friends.
Dorothy was as "fast as lightning" when she was off to shop. Her hobbies included reading and crossword puzzles, driving, walking, and although her late husband Mike was her favorite partner she still loved to dance. She attended St. Anne's Catholic Church where she had assisted with their festivals.
Dorothy Brazill, 83, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning. She had been under the care of her loving family and Mercy Memorial Hospice. Dorothy's passing was also preceded by a brother and sister-in-law Eddie and Charlotte Sorke.
Those who knew Dorothy best will forever cherish her love for life, her great sense of humor, and her innate ability to tell a joke.
