Obituary of Floyd Frank Kominek
Floyd Frank Kominek was born on December 6, 1936 in Carleton, Michigan. He was a twin son born from the union of Frank John Kominek and Elva Helen (Finzel) Kominek. He attended school at the Longbridge one room schoolhouse through the sixth grade. He then enrolled at Holy Ghost Lutheran School where he would complete his education in the eighth grade and be confirmed.
Floyd married the love of his life, the former, Juanita “Soupy” LaBelle on July 14, 1962 at St. Mary Church in Rockwood. Floyd was a hard worker and an excellent provider for his family. Although, he didn’t have much formal education he was extremely intuitive and had a remarkable desire for lifelong learning. He worked as a farmer, in construction, and at Guardian Glass for more than fifteen years. After retirement he went back to farming for Dale Shankleton, driving tractors and combines, fitting the fields.
Loved by everyone, Floyd was easy to get along with and he would be the first to offer you a place to sit or a beer to drink. He lived a good life, often reminiscing about days gone by, laughing and giggling of the things he had seen and done. He enjoyed telling jokes.
Floyd took so much pride in his yard and making sure it was perfect. In fact, it could have been on the cover of Better Homes and Gardens. He spent a lot of time outdoors, hunting, fishing (many times in his own well-stocked pond), farming, and raising whitetail deer for fifteen years, and then New Zealand Red Deer for many years. If he wasn’t busy in the yard he was relaxing under his shanny. He knew what the weather was each season better than the weather man by watching the trees and reading the Farmer’s Almanac.
