Marcia Jo Cheatham was born in Monroe on November 27, 1951 the daughter of the late Morris E. and Catherine M. (Lane) Cheatham. For more than forty years Marcia shared her life with Noel Westley Williams II. They were joined in marriage on February 14, 2007 in Monroe. She worked as a machine operator at Ford Motor Company for many years retiring in 1987. Marcia loved the Rance Allen Gospel Group, listening to gospel music and was a member of New Bethel Bountiful Blessing Ministry C.O.G.I.C.
Marcia was a strong woman with core beliefs and values. She valued her family ties first and foremost. Marcia was outspoken, but she was a loving wife, caring mother and a best friend to many because of her constant support. Marcia treated her brothers as if they were her own children.
Marcia was a free spirit, a self-declared #1 rule breaker. She had a gift for fashion and loved to shop. Her motto was "shop first and budget later". She always made sure she was "presentable "and her accessories included hats, purses, minks and diamonds. Marcia loved to iron, sew and dress her man. She enjoyed playing cards, doing crossword puzzles and going to the casinos to play flaming 777's.
Marcia Jo Williams, age 62 of Monroe, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 24, 2014 in the emergency room of Mercy Memorial Hospital. In addition to her parents, her passing was preceded by two sisters: Noravella (Kenneth) Reed and JoAnna (Curtis) Jones.
To cherish her memory Marcia leaves her husband: Noel W. Williams II of Monroe; two daughters: Deanna Jo Montague (Adron E. Dickerson Jr.) of Monroe and Nicole Monique Montague (Daron Fields) of Monroe; two sisters: Burnetta Sloss Tanner of Indianapolis and Pauline (Edward) Smith of Salt Lake City Utah; three brothers: Morris Edward Cheatham Jr. of Monroe, Willard Lee (Shelia)Cheatham Sr. of Indianapolis, Lloyd Homer Cheatham Sr. of Monroe; six grandchildren: Alex Harris Jr., Jayden Hall, Nicoven Hall, Tavion Harris, Bryce Fields and Zamir Austin; and the children's Godmother: Linda F. McFadden of Monroe; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Friends may gather from 2:00-8:00pm on Monday, March 31, 2014 at Merkle Funeral Service, South Monroe, 14567 South Dixie Highway (734) 241-7070 (formerly Bennett Funeral Services). A Celebration of Her Life will take place at 11:00am, Tuesday, April 1, 2014 also at Merkle's with Bishop Rance Allen officiating. Procession will follow to Roselawn for burial.
