Obituary of Emily Sue Ellison

Emily Sue Amann was born in Monroe, Michigan on August 22, 1937.   She was the daughter of Arnold John  Amann  and Hazel (Crist) Amann.   Emily attended Monroe Schools and during high school she worked a Co-Op at the JC Penny Department Store.   She would graduate with the Class of 1955 from Monroe High School.

Emily married Charles Richard Ellison on September 17, 1955 in Monroe.   The couple would be blessed with the birth of four daughters and Emily would take on the responsibility of being a devoted homemaker and caring for the needs of her husband and children.   She was strong in her Christian faith and regularly attended worship at Stewart Road Church of God.   Emily was generous and kind and when she spoke it was from the heart.   She loved to bring happiness to all of those around her.   One way that Emily showed her love for others was through her own card ministry.   Each month she personally hand selected and mailed out 50-100 cards of encouragement to others.   Theses cards were always appreciated by the recipients.

Emily loved being with her children and grandchildren.   In fact, her family was most important to her, and she always looked forward to decorating and making holiday gatherings extra special.

Emily loved to travel.  Trips to visit her daughter in Scotland and then touring the UK and Ireland were cherished life experiences.   She also enjoyed road trips to Northern Michigan to visit her daughter’s cabin for wonderful family fun on the pontoon boat or sitting and conversing around the campfire.   The Great Smokey Mountains were another wonderful destination for twelve straight years!

Always the fashionista she kept a great selection of clothing and loved to shop to add to her wardrobe.   For several years she was employed by "Especially for You" a specialty gift shop although she seemed to buy more than she made.

Emily Sue Ellison, age 84, of Monroe passed away on Friday; November 12, 2021 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor.   Her loving family was at her side.   Her passing was preceded by her parents; siblings:  Robert Finn, Carol Smith, Eileen McGraw, and Sharon Haynes;  a grandaughter: Madchen Stroupe; and a great grandchild:  Theodore Angel.

To cherish her memory she leaves her beloved husband of sixty-six years:  Charles Richard Ellison of Monroe; four daughters:  Cindy (Glen) Davidson of Milan, Lori (Mark) Errett of Monroe, Susan (Adrian) Stroupe of Kalamazoo, and Lisa (Bryan) Kinsey of Monroe; a sister-in-law:  Carol Finn; a brother-in-law:  Bill Haynes; ten grandchildren; and nine great-Grandchildren.
