Peggy Davis, 72, of Jefferson ,Georgia, passed away on March 18th, 2014 in Monroe, Michigan. She was born in Jefferson, Georgia to Franklin and Ruby Davis on November 27th,1941. She is preceded in death by her half- sister Vikki, her mother Ruby, and her father, Franklin. Peggy is survived by her children, Renee, Phillip, Dante, and Måchiësté, as well as her two Pekingese; Temujin and Amelia. Though lacking a formal education greater than junior high, she was more educated with those 9 grades than most people with a Masters degree are today. She was an avid reader, to put it mildly. She was always in a book; often reading several at one time,on varied topics such as history, religion, and often esoteric topics most don't pretend to understand. She was quite fond of British dramas like "Downton Abbey" and "Remains Of The Day", for which her son often gave her grief, as being what he called "The miracle cure for insomnia". She loved few things more than Elvis Presley and the Old South: The "pretty world where gallantry took it's last bow, and the last to be seen of Knights and their Ladies Fair", to quote her favorite film. She was also a devout Christian; a faith she took great pain to instill in her children. Her life was a always a struggle, with few to no happy moments to speak of, yet her faith in Jesus Christ never ever wavered: a quality to which her children cannot lay claim. She was the last of another generation altogether: a generation of women who made their children their career. Yet for this she was never regretful, even after we grew up and she replaced us with Pekes: who conveniently stayed little, and would never grow up and leave her. There will never be an Old Southern Belle like her again.
