Obituary of Rebecca Jane Hammock

Rebecca Jane Rose was born in Monroe, Michigan on September 1, 1956.  She was one of eight children born to the union of   Arnold Rose and Jewel Dean (Gray) Rose.   She attended Monroe Public Schools graduating from Monroe High School with the Class of 1974.   She would later complete a year of college at Monroe County Community College.

Rebecca dabbled in several different forms of employment throughout her life.   However, her love and dedication was directed first and foremost to caring for the needs of her family as a homemaker.   Rebecca would be blessed with five children of her own.   She was extremely proud of her family and loved to spend time with each and every one of them.   Rebecca would also be blessed with nine grandchildren and she especially cherished the experiences she shared with them.   She would marry Ivan Hammock and the couple shared a special bond.

A member of Petersburg Missionary Baptist Church, Rebecca, was pleased and excited to commit her life to Christ through baptism on June 11, 2000 at the church.   In her free time, Rebecca, enjoyed keeping up on her favorite television shows.  

Rebecca Jane Hammock, age 65, a lifelong Monroe resident passed away at home under the care of ProMedica Monroe Hospice on Friday; October 15, 2021 at 3:34pm.   Her passing was preceded by her parents; her husband:  Ivan Hammock in 2003; two brothers:  Art and Jeff Rose; and one sister:   Glenda Olsen.  

To cherish her memory she leaves five children:  Kenneth Cecil (Tonya Lynn) Rose of Monroe, Racheal (Aaron McCray) Brancheau of Monroe, Raymond Arnold Brandcheau (Jennifer Jennings) of Toledo, David Dean Bomia-Brancheau (Penny Thompson) of Monroe, and Cassandra June Bomia-Brancheau of Monroe; one sister:  Patsy Hughes; three brothers:  James (Debbie) Rose, Grandville (Beverly) Rose, and Virgil (Helen) Rose; nine grandchildren:  Taquilla Black-Brancheau, Zachary Ryan Rose, Cody Ryan Rose, Jordan Michael Ryan Rose, Jalen Ryan Rose, Laci Ryann Rose, Dominick McCray, Riley Rose, and little Ivan; three great grandchildren:  little Zachary Rose, Skyla MaeLynn Rose, Josiah Warren, and one on the way.

No public services have been planned and private services will be held at a later date.   Cremation has taken place through Covenant Cremation in Erie.   Arrangements have been entrusted to Merkle Funeral Service, South Monroe; 14567 South Dixie Highway, Monroe, Michigan 48161 (734) 241-7070.
