Obituary of Ashley Marie Cowan
Ashley Marie Cowan, age 34, of Erie, Michigan passed away unexpectedly in Toledo, Ohio on Thursday; September 30, 2021.
Ashley was born in Goshen, Indiana on February 8, 1987. She was the daughter of James Cowan and Debbie Mathews Cowan. Ashley attended Syracuse Elementary School in Syracuse, Indiana. At the age of 8, Ashley moved to Florida where she attended Brooker Creek Elementary School in Tarpon Springs, Tarpon Springs Middle School, and then Elkhart Central High School in Elkhart, Indiana.
She would make her home in Michigan and be joined in marriage to Keith Daum. Ashley was a wonderful mother to Keith’s daughters: Brooke and Lacee after their mother passed away. For the past five years Ashley and Keith worked alongside each other as the Owners and Operators of A and K Landscaping.
Ashley enjoyed staying busy and had many varied interests. She was quite artistic and liked crocheting, writing poems, and painting. She also enjoyed carving pumpkins. Ashley loved to swim and ride bicycles. She enjoyed listening to music but especially singing along. She loved all animals. Growing up in Florida she loved spending time with her family on the beach and boating.
To cherish her memory she leaves her husband: Keith Daum of Erie; two stepchildren: Brooke and Lacee Daum of Erie; her mother and stepfather: Debbie Balzano and John Balzano; her father and stepmother: Jim and Missy Cowan; her father and mother-in-law: Don and Pat Daum; siblings: Brandy (Jayme) O’Brien, Courtney Eddleman (Todd Krege), Erinn (Mike) Naylor; Joe Balzano, Jace Cowan, Anthony Balzano, and Craig (Penny) Daum; nieces and nephews: Holton Hutker and Leilani Krege, Isabella and Easton Naylor, and Violet Daum; and grandparents: Monte and Teresa Mathews, Joyce Russell, Steve and Jane Irwin, Judith (Tom) Flanagan. She was predeceased by her maternal grandmother Jean Mathews and paternal grandfathers Edwin Cowan and Ben Russell.
Friends may gather from 3:00pm until 5:00pm on Saturday; October 9, 2021 at Merkle Funeral Service, Erie; 9156 Summit Street, Erie, Michigan 48133 (734) 317-7199. A Celebration of Her Life will follow at 5:00pm also at Merkle’s with Minister James Puhl of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Temperance officiating. Cremation will follow through Covenant Cremation in Erie.
