Obituary of Brooxie Williams

Brooxie Eloise Arnold was born on April 4, 1920 in Trenton, Tennessee. She was one of three children born from the union of the late Irby Arnold and the late Linnie (Williams) Arnold.
She married the love of her life, James B. Williams, and from this union came the birth of five children. The family resided in Farmington Hills for many years, and Brooxie was a homemaker taking care of the couple's children. By nature, Brooxie, was a caretaker. Her passion for serving others led her to obtaining a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. For more than eighteen years she would work as a nurse, a career that was more of a passion than a job. She was employed by the Malcom Palmer Nursing Home.
Brooxie was a God-fearing woman. She received her spiritual nourishment while a member of the Church of Christ in Southfield where she served on many committees throughout the years and also taught Sunday School. In her free time, Brooxie enjoyed studying and reading the Bible, and writing poetry. She was also a former member the Women's Auxillary.
Following James' retirement they moved to North Carolina where they enjoyed many years until he passed away. She moved back to Michigan ten years ago to be near her son. Brooxie loved to spend time family and friends. Vacationing in Hawaii was something she always looked forward to.
Brooxie Eloise Williams, age 93 of Monroe passed away peacefully at the Medilodge of Monroe on Saturday, March 29, 2014. In addition to her parents her passing was preceded by her husband: James; four daughters: Beverly Ann Saylor, Linda May Williams, Brenda and Jeannie Williams; and a brother: Jack Arnold.
To cherish her memory, Brooxie leaves a beloved son: James (Lilia) Williams of Monroe; a sister: Dorothy Hickerson of Tennessee; ten grandchildren: Kathy, Jean, Rhonda, Eric, Justin, Aaron, Elizabeth, James, Theresa and Raul; seventeen great grandchildren ; several great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Private memorial services will be held at a later date, and no public services are planned. Cremation has taken place through Southern Michigan Services in Livonia, Michigan. Arrangements have been entrusted to Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185.
